Another positive review of the Global Television Formats collection (Routledge 2012) co-edited by Sharon Shahaf has just been published in the Global Media Journal (German edition), volume 3.2 (Autumn/Winter 2013). Anne Grune (at the University of Erfurt) writes: “the collection’s emphasis on the complexities of historical patterns and the social and cultural situatedness of TV formats enriches our recognition of television histories in various geographical regions as well as our understanding of their entanglements with transnational and global developments… [T]he edition provides a useful and important academic overview and is to be recommended to all those interested in television formats.”
