Beginning in Fall 2015, the Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences will offer a professionalized dual degree program for BA in Film and Media students aspiring to advanced honors-level and MA Film and Video production. This program is designed to take a total of 5 years (including a student’s Freshman and Sophomore years), at the end of which, a student will receive BOTH a BA in Film and Media and an MA in Communication with a concentration in Film and Video Production. The program will require applicants to have maintained a 3.5 GPA in all previous university level courses before applying to the program.
Acceptance into the dual degree program provides participating bachelor’s students with opportunities distinct from their peers, including the following:
1) an advisement program designed specifically for dual degree students;
2) priority approval to take designated graduate-level production courses as an undergraduate;
3) production of a required thesis project in lieu of the Senior Capstone Course; and
4) extended faculty-led research and other experiences.
We invite all interested film majors to attend an open meeting for more info.
