Fall 2017 Orientation for New Grad Students

Wednesday, August 9: University-wide graduate student orientation

9:30am – 5:30pm (Student Center Ballroom)
Offered by the College of Arts and Sciences, this orientation is MANDATORY for all graduate students new to Georgia State University. The day-long event is in addition to the brief “check-in” events offered throughout the summer.

Monday, August 14: International student orientation

8:30am (Sports Center) Offered by International Student Services, this orientation is MANDATORY for all international students. See the ISSS website for details regarding time, place, and registration.

Tuesday, August 13: School of Film, Media, and Theatre orientation

9:30am-12:00 pm (Conference Room 1047, 25 Park Place NE, Atlanta 30303)
New Graduate Student General Orientation — all new FMT graduate students must attend

12pm – 1pm (Conference Room 1047)
Graduate Student Luncheon — all new and continuing graduate students in the School of Film, Media, and Theatre are welcome to attend

1pm – 1:15pm (Conference Room 1047)
New Graduate Assistant Orientation — all GRAs, GLAs, & GTAs attend

1:15pm – 2:00pm New Graduate Assistant Orientation in two groups:

  • Teaching Assistant Orientation (Conference Room 1047)
  • Lab & Research Assistant Orientation (10th floor location TBA)

2pm – 3pm (Conference Room 1047)
Coffee & tea with the School of Film, Media & Theatre faculty

3pm – 4pm (GSU Library)
Personal tour of the GSU library with arts librarian Nedda Ahmed (she’ll be here for coffee, and you can all head to the library together)

Friday, August 18: College of the Arts reception

5:30pm – 7pm (5th floor, Arts & Humanities Building)
Reception hosted by the College of the Arts — for all COTA faculty, grad students, & staff. Please rsvp here.
